USI Exemption 2016

An AECP initiative for representatives of the first aid industry to meet with the new Minister for Vocational Education and Skills, the Hon Luke Hartsuyker has resulted in extension of the USI exemption for short courses.

It had been the case that from 1 January 2016, courses of one day or less would no longer be exempt from the requirement for students to have a USI before a RTO could issue a statement of attainment. Minister Hartsuyker has now amended the Student Identifiers (Exemptions) Instrument 2014 such that the exemption continues to apply throughout 2016.

In the first half of 2016, AECP will be promoting the needs of the first aid industry during the Department of Education’s wide-ranging review of recent VET Reforms; working to achieve sustainable legislative reform by 2017.
